Watch | 'Kingdom: Ashin of the North' special episode trailer

The Kingdom series special episode Kingdom: Ashin of the North main trailer teases the beginning of the great tragedy that fell upon Joseon and tells the story of Ashin and the resurrection plant.

The main trailer shows the vast forest of the northern region and a foreboding ambiance can be sensed as the view shifts deep into the forest. Dead bodies are discovered in Pyesa-gun, an area where entry is forbidden for 100 years, and a dangerous tiger charges. It is obvious that the tragedy that falls upon Joseon begins in the north. 

An unknown man explodes with anger and says, “Be ready for bloody revenge.” Then Ashin’s village is horrendously attacked. Young Ashin loses everything in one moment and is left by herself. The story of how the deep sorrow experienced by Ashin leads to the calamities that besiege Joseon prompts more anticipation and curiosity as Kingdom: Ashin of the North divulges more details.

Furthermore, seeing more of Gianna Jun, Kim Sia, and Park Byung-eun leaves us more eager to find out more about the intriguing tale. Gianna Jun is perfectly transformed into Ashin who speaks of her plans to “kill every living thing.” We also see Min Chi-rok’s upright past self as a connecting link between the special episode and the Kingdom series through Park Byung-eun. Kim Sia portrays young Ashin who pleads with Min Chi-rok to get revenge. The synergy of these three actors raises expectations and captures our attention.

The unfamiliar yet beautiful landscape of the north and the focus on Ashin adds to the densely packed main trailer as exciting anticipation builds. Kingdom: Ashin of the North will be released on July 23, only on Netflix.
