With free WiFi, coffee | this bank is a digital nomad's paradise

As someone who wears many hats, I value time. I am no stranger to hours of lining up in banks and waiting for my number to be called before I get to deposit payment for my insurance policy. I feel frustrated that time is wasted because I am not allowed to use gadgets to do my work or blogging inside the bank because of security reasons. Add that fact that my phone bill would go up because I'd be using mobile data.
Good thing that Unionbank opened The ARK, dubbed as the first fully digital branch in the country. At The ARK, a client is treated like a guest, welcomed by a "bank ambassador" who hands him a tablet to select his transaction. The bank ambassador may usher the guest to the coffee area where he could enjoy his coffee while waiting for the bank ambassador to facilitate his transaction.
Sure, you may stay longer depending on your needs but you can do your work inside their our space using their free high-speed WiFi, ensuring to give visitors VIP experience at The Ark.
Always with a smile. Their bank ambassadors are highly trained not just to handle your transactions, but will always treat you as guest at the #TheARKbyUnionBank. Take a seat at The ARK cafe so you can enjoy an espresso while their bank ambassadors assist you.
It's not surprising that the bank thought of merging their services with the convenience of a modern co-working space. UnionBank did receive an award - the Best Digital Bank at the Asiamoney Banking Awards 2017, held at The Ritz-Carlton in Beijing, China, gaining the bragging rights as the best digital bank in the country.
"UnionBank trailblazed digital banking in the Philippines and we continue with our efforts to use technology and enhancing digital banking capabilities in order to provide the best customer experience for our clients,” said UnionBank Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Justo Ortiz.
The ARK provides an interactional experience rather than a transactional space. It could also be used as a 3rd space for different communities to get together.
The ARK's bank ambassadors
Looks like all eyes from the banking industry are on UnionBank.
Spotted during the launch last week was Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Deputy Governor Chuchi Fonacier who hailed UnionBank for being advanced in their services.
“Our banks need to be equipped with sound digital strategies for them to cope up with these digital innovations to better serve their clients. BSP will also be aggressively pursuing reforms to support our banks through an enabling regulatory environment,” Fonacier added.
BSP records show that 25% of current bank clients use mobile banking technologies in their transactions and this number is predicted to grow exponentially over the years. On that aspect, UnionBank is currently way ahead of its competitors with the launch of The ARK.
