Anne Curtis is set to invade millions of TV sets in Asia with her upcoming special on E! Entertainment Television, Universal Networks' entertainment and celebrity lifestyle channel, adding to her long list of achievements as an entertainer. Not only does she get the global recognition she deserves, Anne Curtis becomes the first Filipino celebrity to be featured on an E! News Special.
The 30-minute special premiering on September 29 is produced by E!, the world’s leader in entertainment news. The prestigious channel elevates the Filipina beauty to the same platform that has showcased biographies of Hollywood’s who’s who like Madonna, Brad Pitt, Nicki Minaj and Angelina Jolie.
Earning the moniker “National Sweetheart,” Curtis has worn several hats in the Philippine entertainment industry as a box office actress, platinum recording artist, sold-out concert performer, trendsetting fashionista, perky VJ and host. She is also the most sought out product endorser, appearing in various media from billboards to TV commercials.
But Curtis’s successes did not come overnight. While on vacation in the Philippines, a talent scout asked her to audition for TV commercials. She then played as damsel in distress in Peque Gallaga’s Magic Kingdom and received bit roles in different sitcoms, soaps and gag shows in her teenage years in GMA. Her breakthrough performances came when he transferred to ABS-CBN, acting side-by-side veteran actresses Dina Bonnevie and Kris Aquino on the soap opera Hiram in 2007.
The once teen sweetheart then showed her versatility in acting, tackling comedic to dramatic roles. Who could forget Celine from Maging Sino Ka Man—who made the line “Yes, I am a slut, but I am the best slut in town” famous among lovestruck individuals? She also went on headlining soap operas like Kampanerang Kuba, Green Rose, fantasy series Dyosa, epic movie Baler, for which she received her first Best Actress Award at the Metro Manila Film Festival, and the film that broke records at the box office, No Other Woman.
Curtis also excelled in hosting programs like A.S.A.P., Star Circle Summer Kids Quest, Cupids and even as a VJ for MTV Philippines. But it was her current hosting in Showtime that showcased her love for singing. It opened doors for a platinum-selling album Annebisyosa, followed by sold-out concerts, not just in the Philippines, but in other countries as well. Curtis admits that she is not the best singer, but the fact that her performances amuse people brings joy to her heart.
She is also set to appear in her first Hollywood movie, “Blood Ransom” to be shown in the U.S. this year.
But underneath this lustrous career, who is Anne Curtis? Get an in depth look into her exciting life, struggles and rise to fame on E! News Special, which premieres on September 29 (7:30PM PH).
